Hampir semua botol susu jika tidak semua botol susu plastik diperbuat daripada bahan poli karbonat atau PC. Tetapi penggunaan PC untuk tujuan tersebut mewujudkan kebimbangan besar dari segi sebatian 2,2-Bis(4-Hidroksifenil) Propana atau 2,2 Bis (4-HydroxyPhenyl) Propane atau (Bisphenol A). Nama popularnya adalah BPA. BPA adalah sebatian asas pembuatan bahan PC. PC juga digunakan untuk membuat bekas makanan dan minuman.
Pelbagai pihak industri plastik terutamanya yang menyokong pendapat bahawa BPA adalah selamat menyangkal pendapat bahawa BPA adalah merbahaya pada tahap yang dijumpai dalam badan manusia. Walaubagaimanapun, perkembangan terbaru dalam kajian penilaian BPA dan kesannya pada kesihatan telah dilaporkan dari beberapa buah negara dan agensi-agensi mereka (seperti, kerajaan dan ahli kajian kepentingan awam).
Pakar-pakar dalam Jawatankuasa Standard Industri di bawah Jabatan Standard Malaysia iaitu ISC J dan MPMA (yang merupakan organisasi penuliasn standard) sudah semestinya sedia maklum bahawa BPA adalah penghalang endokrin (endocrine disruptor); bermakna ia mengganggu fungsi hormon dalam benda hidup. BPA pada mulanya digunakan sebagai hormon buatan bagi mengawal masalah mengandung wanita. Penggunaanya dihentikan selepas ubat baru dijumpa. Tetapi pada masa tersebut, industri plastik telah menemui kegunaan baru untuk BPA iaitu pembuatan plastik Poli Karbonat atau PC.
Sebagai penghalang fungsi endokrin, BPA menyebabkan sel bertindak seakan-akan sama dengan tindakan sel tersebut terhadap hormon estradiol (hormon estrogen). BPA bergabung dengan reseptor berkaitan dengan estrogen tetapi tidak boleh menggantikan aktiviti estrogen. Akibatnya BPA mungkin memberikan kesan estrogen palsu kepada badan, mengganggu keseimbangan hormon yang diperlukan bagi perkembangan manusia yang sihat.
Ujian pada haiwan mengaitkan pendedahan pada dos yang rendah kepada pelbagai masalah kesihatan yang serius termasuk:
- kanser prostat dan payudara
- pencapaian akil baligh awal
- kegemukan
- hiperaktiviti
- bilangan sperma yang rendah
- masalah keguguran dalam kandungan
- diabetes
- perubahan sistem ketahanan(1)
Pendedahan terhadap Bisfenol A adalah luas. Pusat Kawalan Penyakit Amerika Syarikat (US CDC) mendapati 95% orang Amerika yang diuji mempunyai tahap BPA dalam badan yang boleh dikesan(2)Satu lagi kajian pada tahun 2008 menunjukkan bahawa tahap BPA yang dijumpa dalam badan manusia adalah paling kurang dalam dewasa, sederhana pada remaja dan paling tinggi dalam kanak-kanak(3) Ikatan kimia antara molekul BPA adalah tidak stabil. Oleh itu dengan masa, BPA akan menjerap ke dalam makanan atau minuman dalam bekas yang diperbuat daripada bahan yang mengandungi BPA (contohnya susu)(4). Satu kajian yang dilakukan di Universiti Cincinnati, Amerika Syarikat mendapati penjerapan BPA daripada botol Nalgene (satu jenama botol susu bayi popular di Amerika Syarikat)(5).
Pada bulan Ogos 2007, Kumpulan Kerja Alam Sekitar di Amerika Syarikat telah menjumpai BPA telah menjerap daripada lapisan dalam tin makanan bayi berjenama popular. Pada Mac 2007, ujian oleh makmal-makmal bebas telah menjumpai BPA dalam lebih separuh daripada 97 tin makanan seperti buah-buahan, sayur-syauran, soda dan lain-lain makanan tin yang biasa dijumpai.(6)
Kajian dan Penilaian terhadap Kehadiran dan Kesan BPA
Pelbagai kajian dan penilaian telah dilakukan oleh kumpulan industri, agensi kepentingan awam bebas dan kerajaan. Banyak yang menuntut bahawa tahap BPA yang dijumpai dalam badan manusia pada masa sekarang tidak memudaratkan kesihatan. Tetapi banyak kajian lain yang tidak menggalakkan penggunaan PC terutamanya untuk bekas makanan dan minuman bayi dan kanak-kanak.
Oleh itu, banyak negara yang menangani isu-isu yang tiada kepastian ini menggunakan prinsip ’precautionary’ (berjaga-jaga). Dengan itu banyak negara telah menetapkan (dalam sesetengah kes telah menghadkan dalam undang-undang) had BPA berdasarkan pengambilan mikrogram/berat badan.
Precautionary Principle
When an activity raises threats of harm to the environment or human health, precautionary measures should be taken even if some cause and effect relationships are not fully established scientifically. "Key elements of the principle include taking precaution in the face of scientific uncertainty; exploring alternatives to possibly harmful actions; placing the burden of proof on proponents of an activity rather than on victims or potential victims of the activity; and using democratic processes to carry out and enforce the principle-including the public right to informed consent.

Info Tentang Plastic
Ntah kenapa kebelakangan ni aku begitu amik berat pasal penggunaan bekas minuman keluarga aku.. dulu bukan aku tak tau yang bekas minuman sesetengahnya langsung tak boleh di recycle..atau diguna balik macam yang aku buat kat botol mineral water tu.. tapi mungkin kesedaran tu belum timbul macam hari ini.. aku mula mengumpul duit untuk membeli bekas2 plastic untuk kegunaan keluarga aku terutama bekas air untuk menyimpan air masak sejuk yang aku gunakan untuk minum dan juga untuk bancuhan susu anak perempuan aku tu.. aku dah pun beli 2,3 buah bekas air minuman yang dijamin kualitinya.. alhamdulillah.. semoga ahli keluarga aku sentiasa sihat hendaknya..

Plastics are typically classified by a number from #1 to #7, each number representing a different type of resin. That number is usually imprinted on the bottom of your container; flip it upside down, and you'll see a recycling triangle with the number in the middle.
Here's a quick breakdown of plastic resin types:
#1 polyethylene terephthalate (PET or PETE)

Safer Plastics
#2HDPE, #4LDPE and #5PP
These three types of plastic are the healthiest. They transmit no known chemicals into your food and they're generally recyclable; #2 is very commonly accepted by municipal recycling programs, but you may have a more difficult time finding someone to recycle your #4 and #5 containers.
#1 PET
#1 bottles and containers are fine for single use and are widely accepted by municipal recyclers. You won't find many reusable containers made from #1, but they do exist. It's also best to avoid reusing #1 plastic bottles; water and soda bottles in particular are hard to clean, and because plastic is porous, these bottles absorb flavors and bacteria that you can't get rid of.
PLA
PLA (polylactide) plastics are made from renewable resources such as corn, potatoes and sugar cane and anything else with a high starch content. The starch is converted into polylactide acid (PLA). Although you can't recycle these plant-based plastics, you can compost them in a municipal composter or in your backyard compost heap. Most decompose in about twelve days unlike conventional plastic, which can take up to 100 years.
Plastics to Avoid
#3 PVC
#3 polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is often used frequently in cling wraps for meat. However, PVC contains softeners called phthalates that interfere with hormonal development, and its manufacture and incineration release dioxin, a potent carcinogen and hormone disruptor. Vinyl chloride, the primary building block of PVC, is a known human carcinogen that also poses a threat to workers during manufacture.
#6 PS
Extruded polystyrene (#6 PS; commonly known as Styrofoam) is used in take-out containers and cups, and non-extruded PS is used in clear disposable takeout containers, disposable plastic cutlery and cups. Both forms of PS can leach styrene into food; styrene is considered a possible human carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. It may also disrupt hormones or affect reproduction.
#7 PC
#7 Polycarbonate (PC) is found in baby bottles, 5-gallon water bottles, water-cooler bottles and the epoxy linings of tin food cans. PC is composed of a hormone-disrupting chemical called bisphenol A, which has been linked to a wide variety of problems such as cancer and obesity.

Udang Goreng Bersalut Tepung..NyumNyum!!
Sekarang dah kul 4.20 ptg..aku ingat nak masak udang goreng tepong laa wat minum petang..hmm..bukan ape, geram kat udang yang hubby beli pagi tadi..udang kapas tapi saiz XL.. fuhh puas hati ni kalau makan..pastu cicah sos cili yang aku alter sikit..hmm terliur aku dah.. so aku online ni bukan ape.. sebenarnya aku tengah cari resepi goreng udang bertepung..tapi kebanyakkan semua guna tepung naik sendiri.. alahai..maner ada tepung tu kat umah..tadi dah order tepung tu tapi macama lambat agi je nak sampai..aku ingat nak buatkan minum petang untuk bapa mertua aku yang ada kat umah ni..kan aku ni menantu yang baik huhuuhu...hmmm nak buat tepung naik sendiri macam tak reti jerk..gimane yak..atau aku kensel jer pasal masak udang tu..untuk minum petang suh jer adik ipar aku gi beli kat bawah...tapi..tak best la..aku nak goreng udang tu jugak..klah..nanti aku tunjuk kan hasilnya k..
Semangat mengoreng udang bersalut tepung terus berkobar-kobar..akhirnya tepung naik sendiri pun sampai..apa lagi..aku terus adun tepung then adik ipar aku yang goreng hehehe..malas aku nak tunggu kat periuk..baik aku tunggu kat meja hahaha.. so ku biarkan dia menggoreng sedangkan aku..sedap-sedap makan sambil borak2 agi..bukan selalu mood menolong ipar aku ni datang.. dalam sepuluh mood, 1 jer mood rajin..9 lagi mood pemalas je dia ada hahaha..mampus kalau dia tau aku kutuk dia.. takleh gurau pi dok... huwahuwa.. so akhirnya aku dapat juga resepi sedap goreng udang..setelah membelek2 website..aku buat resepi sendiri..cuba lah..
